Very sad: Frank Erler died!

Very sad: Frank Erler died!

It is with great dismay that I have just learned that my office neighbor, colleague and friend Frank Erler died just like that, heart failure… he leaves behind his wife and 4 children!

It’s not just that we’re still working on a joint project, we’re also finishing it. Much more tragic is that I will already miss our joint visits to the chip shop, the discussions about photography and cycling, the quick espresso in between.

I was particularly impressed by his optimism, with which he always looked to the future, no matter how difficult the circumstances were. He was also a really good expert on the history of Mülheim, for me just the location of my studio, for him it was home and home, he was really rooted here. Whenever we were out and about together in Schanzenstraße, everyone greeted him and he had something to say to everyone. But his most outstanding quality was his willingness to help, you can’t say that often enough.

Unfortunately, his website frank-erler.de is now also offline. What a shame… I will always remember him with respect and fondness. It was great to be able to work with Frank.

“Photographers never die, they only get out of focus…”

Take care, Frank Erler, and thank you for everything!
