The car collections of this country

What car collections there are…

and they are not all in southern Germany. Sometimes they are very close by. Heinz Schmersal is the managing director of a large family business(K.A. Schmersal GmbH & Co. KG) and a not entirely unsuccessful racing driver. His enthusiasm for cars is also reflected in his impressive car collection, which includes some truly remarkable specimens. From Alfa to Ferrari and Mercedes to Porsche. The obligatory VW T1 is not to be missed. Incidentally, please also note the red vehicle shown, a real classic, legend and technical delicacy. You can tell that the collection was put together by an engineer.

I would like to list the individual models, but I won’t, because such collections are always private. If it were otherwise, the owner would charge admission and write “museum” above it. I was invited to view the collection, but not to report on it. That has already been done indirectly by manager magazin in the past, it wasn’t my job. That was for Mercedes Leverkusen in a completely different context. But of course it had something to do with cars, but that’s not the point now. What’s more interesting is that similar vehicles would be in my stable if I had the opportunity.

But what impressed me most was the unique fact that all the vehicles in his very well-secured large garage are registered as normal. No, they don’t have temporary license plates – every car is immediately ready to drive without having to change its license plate. Heinz Schmersal also says: “These are all my favorites; when I feel like going on a tour, I want to be able to turn the key and drive off!”

As a consequence, I have never seen this before in all the car collections…
