Photography in the advanced art course

With increasing seniority, you also do things that you are more familiar with from your father. Mine was a teacher…

I also love doing things that I’ve never done before. Apart from ice diving or driving a Dacia. So it can be a bit enjoyable.
Two very early mornings this week were very enjoyable. I had the opportunity to teach 2 double lessons in an art leadership course in Q2 (i.e. shortly before the Abitur). The course had Andreas Gursky’s work on the syllabus and the nice art teacher came up with the (admittedly brilliant) idea of bringing in someone who is familiar with modern photographic technology at a high level.
So I packed up the PhaseOne and was able to explain how photography really works on a live object. Not that four lessons would be enough, but I was probably able to give a little insight into the fact that it takes a bit more than just pressing the shutter button. It’s actually far too short, but it’s definitely fun working with the sixth form students. But you also realize that the first two hours are still the middle of the night for the young people. Not a criticism, just an observation, which is also very understandable. Nevertheless, I would do it again at any time, more often, no question!
As a thank you, he gave me a really nice letter and an official mug from the school. It wasn’t necessary, but I was very pleased. It definitely looks very good on my desk!
